Unavailable and availability default durations are now 30 minutes

We've made some changes to how we handle the times on the appointment form.

Previously, when making a new unavailable block the default duration was the duration of the practitioner's default appointment type. The default duration of a new available block was 1 hour. However, when you changed the start time, the end time would be changed to 30 minutes later.

We have now made 30 minutes the default duration for unavailable and availability blocks. This default is applied when opening a new block and when the start time is changed.

Is it possible to make this a customised setting? One appointment slot was so easy before - now I have to manually change every one back to one appointment slot. I use the quick U command ALL THE TIME!

    Hi Valerie,

Thanks for the feedback! We've had a few others request this, as well. We're discussing amongst the team how we want to handle the default length. We'll let you know if we decide to make a change.

I found the one hour perfect for me as most of my slots are one hour. I absolutely loathe the half hour as it requires multiple keystrokes just to block out one session, especially if its around the midday because then you also have to change the am/pm. Please allow for the default to be changed individually or can we just go back to the one hour? Cheers Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't considered the effect this is having when combined with the new AM/PM picker.

I don't think we'll change from 30 minutes to 1 hour. For some people, that would be better and for others it would be worse. The impetus for this change was consistency since the previous code would apply 30 minutes in some cases and an hour in others in a way that was not clear.

I think the solution to this is to have a setting or to use the practitioner's default appointment type duration for both unavailable and availability blocks. Is one of those better than the other in your opinion?

I'm not sure when we'll be able to get back to this, we have a lot of other things on our to do lists at the moment.

Yes yes default appointment times would be amazing on our end! This is the most frustrating thing in our ease of use!

Hi John. Either of those options would be excellent. " to have a setting or to use the practitioner's default appointment type duration for both unavailable and availability blocks" ALTHOUGH Rachel did answer my request with this
    "Hi Andrew!

We don't have any plans currently to move the unavailable block back to an hour but if we get enough requests to change it back to an hour we will definitely look into altering the default time!

That said, I'll at least look into if a future setting can be implemented where you can pick the default time (instead of changing it to an hour for EVERYONE -- which as you can imagine, would cause chaos for some). I'll let you know if we establish any plans to add this! Right now we're focusing on mobile compatability/responsiveness of Cliniko and body diagrams but once that is completed we will look into requests and features like this!

    Sincerely,
    Rachel"

I've chatted with some other members of the team, and we've decided to change the default duration of blocks to the duration of the practitioner's default appointment type. The change to do this turned out to be pretty simple, so we'll be doing it soon. I'll add another update here when we do.

Thanks again to both of you for the feedback!
