Next appointment is now shown on the appointment

We now show the patient's next appointment on the appointment popup on the calendar.  It will be the next appointment from the one you selected.

Hey, just thought of something. The next appointment displayed does not distinguish between types of appointments. So for us, for instance, a patient could have an ancillary service booked and us, thinking their next primary service is booked, will fail to book them in and the patient will get off schedule. So could you amend the notification to also include service type? I'm sure this would be useful to many different clinics, not just ours!

In all instances where next appointment is shown - even on the client screen, Knowing what the last or next appointment was/is for would be very helpful rather than knowing when it is.

For me, the next appointment on the popup isnt that important. I would see the medical alert as a useful feature on the appointment pop up box so that one instantly sees significant medical issues or if we use it for relevant notes e.g. patient needs help taking socks off,

Super, this is great thanks guys.  Just a point that needs correction.  If the patient has had 4 appointments, and they don't have another appointment, if their first appointment is selected, the box indicates that the next appointment is the 2nd one they originally had.  This is problematic, as it would be preferable to know when their next future appointment will be.

    Hi David,

That is how we originally coded it.  It even made it's way onto our staging servers (ready for release) and we were doing final testing.  It was at that point that we found it confusing and we decided to change it.

I personally assumed that most times the patient would be in on that day, and you'd be clicking on todays appointment to see the next.

The other problem we had with what you suggest, a patient comes in for their appointment a few minutes early.  While chatting to reception, they ask when their next one is.  The receptionist todays appointment, and it shows next appointment is in 2 minutes... not so helpful.

Anyway, this was our reasoning.  I appreciate the feedback.

Ah, thanks Joel.  I see the dilemma.  I guess it would be simpler at my practice (for example) to do it the way you originally designed it, considering the fact that I generally book only 1 appointment in advance.  In the case of practices that book multiple appointments in advance, it would make sense to utilise the current design.

Thanks again for a great product, and super service.  Well worth every penny

    Hi Joel,

You already have that problem. Before the 'next appointment' on the popup release, the only way to check their next appointment was to go into the patient's profile. There you see boldly Next Appointment! ..... which shows today's appointment. Helpful I guess if you were looking at their profile because you didn't see them in your schedule and thought they should be, but not so helpful to tell the patient what their next appointment is when they're standing in front of you.

Anyway with the update the combination of the two should work fine. It would still be really helpful though if we could include appointment TYPE, or at least Practitioner or something. It's just not enough information the way it is. Currently I look at it and the through process is: "ok your next chiro appt is X... oh wait... that could be a massage... ok hold on I have to open the profile page to know for sure..."   So you can see that without more info I just end up going to the profile anyway so the update doesn't actually save me any time, just presents the opportunity for me to make a mistake :(

Great update here, but I agree, so much more could be shown. We use other software at our other practice and this feature is mostly used and incredibly practical. If you hover over the patient's name a small window pops up to the right which shows a wealth of information, including next and previous appointments, and who they are with, the item code, which user made the appointment, their status, any notes and communication about that specific appointment etc all in a window a quarter of the size the cliniko currently has. You can then just move the mouse down to other patients if need be and see their information without even clicking unless you need to get into their file.

This feature is one I'd like to see in cliniko.
