Redesigned appointments and more

We have just released a pretty big improvement to Cliniko.  We redesigned the appointment form, and the appointment popup when you click on an appointment.  We also made some small styling changes throughout the application.

Why did we do this?

1. It makes creating and viewing appointments much better.

The original design of appointments in Cliniko did not take into account all the features we have today. It was time to redesign this part of Cliniko with all of the functionality in mind. We think this makes that area of Cliniko much easier to use now.

2. We're working on introducing classes/group bookings.

We've been working for a while on adding classes/group bookings into Cliniko. We hit a roadblock where the current interface just didn't have the room to add this feature. This redesign will now allow us to continue with this feature.

3. Improvements for all devices.

We're working on making Cliniko work great on all devices. This redesign is another step forward in that direction.

The new look

You will also find minor style changes throughout Cliniko giving it a more consistent look.

We're excited about these changes, but even more excited about the changes this allows us to add in the future.

NO NO NO  Just restarted the program and holy-moly what a change.  It will all go well I am sure, however, we have a problem.  The patient's name now appears in Block capital letter.s  we go to great lengths to save upper case patient names for specific activities.  It is our way of saying the notes need updating.  his has worked well.  NOW all of a sudden the patient name pops up on the appointment sheet and patient details page in upper case.  THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM for us

Can this not be the case.  Can you replace the auto upper case displays with whatever case the patient details have.   please please please.

As we use this more we may have other lkes dislikes, will let you know.

    regards,

Hi Terry! Can you email us at support@cliniko.com  more detail about what you're doing so we can try to help. Thanks!

Looks good but is going to take some getting used to.

Wish you would have added the ability to enter an additional telephone number or two when creating a new patient appointment.  Patient always provides two numbers and we have to save it in the notes and then copy it into the patient file.  Not fun.

Also I find it a little less efficient to click "patient arrived".  It would be better if the window closed after you change the drop down to patient arrived, or even better have a button for "patient arrive" rather than a drop down and have the window close after clicking.

Agree with Dwayne for Arrival. Don't want a dropdown, it is slow and finicky. Just a button please. Also when switching from Arrived to either other option, the words are white against a white background.

In patient details, cannot add family members anymore. If edit a patient, currently listed family members' names no longer appear. Glitch that needs fixing.

Not really a fan of the new look but will give more useful feedback once I've been using it longer.

Hi, I like the changes but we have lost the ability to press {ENTER} in the NOTES so now they are all on one line. Any change you can fix this up please.

Hi All! We fixed the bugs with the enter key in treatment notes and the patient relationships. Sorry they occurred!

Love the new look.  Any chance we could get a 'Confirmed' option in the drop down & an icon to appear on the appointment (like patient arrived) ?  It would be an easy way to see at a glance who has/hasn't confirmed their appointments.  Thanks ... Helen :))

    Hi guys,

When making a new appointment on a touch screen, I can search for patient but can't select from the drop-down list with the touch screen.  I can select if I use a mouse input on the same device.

    Hi Tyraus,

I haven't been able to reproduce so far, what device are you using?

We've fixed a few bugs that people raised:

    • When merging patients, the checkbox to select the patients was not working.
    • Sending one off SMS, the text box could not be typed in.
    • On latest firefox, the appointment time selectors were not showing both digits.
    • On firefox, when adding a new patient from an appointment, the phone number could not be typed in.

Thanks so much everyone for your quick feedback.  We do test our changes on many browsers and devices before releasing them, however the variety of operating systems and browser versions can mean these things can still get past us.  Sorry for any trouble caused by them, we'll keep fixing anything right away if it's not working properly.

@Terry, we'll get the patient name font changed so that it shows upper and lower case again.

    Hi Joel,

    Asus T100 running windows 8.

IE - Can't select patient from drop-down list through touch screen.

Firefox - Can select patient from drop-down list but list drops down behind tabs below and therefore un-accessible.

    Cheers, Tyraus

    Hi Joel,

Do you mean that the classes are a few days off or are we talking a fair bit longer than that?

Look forward to hearing from you

Hi, Agree it looks good but we have lost the ability to quickly go to the patients details section. We can only go directly to notes from the diary. Can you please add an option to click on patient details. Also I agree with others that returning to just clicking once for patient arrived is better than a drop down menu.

    Thanks

    Hi Kelly,

You can click the patient's name to go to their details page just like before.  We'll have a think about making it a separate link again to be more obvious.

As for the one-click arrived, we'll work on that too.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, But I hate it. Seems  Slower. Hate the Black Screen when keying in appointment and the Huge Capitals on Patient Details. Mondays are bad enough without coming in to find this.

Having said that there are GOOD things-Easier to read appointment and cancellation screen.

I haven't  used much at this stage  it but I guess it's the shock of finding such a DRASTIC CHANGE to the main part of the system and something you really need to be on top of as soon as you arrive at work and the phone starts ringing. Perhaps next time we could have some warning. And no, I'm not averse to change.

Had my vent and I'm sure all will be good. But just remember it is Monday morning.  Marie

Thanks for sharing the Monday morning vent Marie :)

We did want to notify people before releasing it, but we don't have a great mechanism to do so.  We've used email in the past, but that only get less than 30% of people opening them.

In future we're going to put a notifications system into Cliniko as a better way for us to communicate with you on changes.

I do hope you come to like the changes, let us know after you've used it for a few days please.

Also, we're still tweaking it based on feedback, so it's not "Done".

We just fixed an issue where repeated appointments were not showing correctly while being edited (the repeat information was incorrect).

Another update! The patient name is no longer all caps on the appointment popup.

It still is on the patients page, that requires some more thought before we can make a change there.

Clicking "Arrived" takes too long to be recognized that it's been changed so doesn't actually change the status of the patient, even if I wait a few second before exiting the pop up sometimes it still doesn't register.

Thanks Alli.  We're working on that now.

The patient's mobile number is hyperlinked, but it doesn't go anywhere (on my computer, at least).

Can that be hyperlinked to send them an SMS, just like clicking their email address takes you directly to your email client to send them an email? Sending an individual SMS from that page still requires going into the aptient's page, then clicking "send SMS message" from there. Seems like an easy step to cout out if you can do it directly from the appointment pop-up screen.

    Hi Ian,

It's currently linked to call them.  So if you're on a mobile phone, it will bring up the dial screen.  Otherwise if you have skype or something on your desktop, it would do the same.

I'll see if we can do something like a icon/button next to it for send a sms message.

Hi, Me again. Re the Blacking out of the Calendar when you go into an appointment- Sometimes you need to see what is available for the rest of the week At  a Glance to reschedule or for patients who can't decide. Now Can't see anything at all. Can quickly advise and click onto new time.  Marie

  • Avatar
    Joel Friedlaender

@Osteo Group, you can click the patient name for this.  Looks like we need to make that more obvious.

@Marie, if you click the "reschedule" button on the appointment, the calendar will return with nothing obscuring it.  You'll be in reschedule mode.  Then just click whereever you want on the calendar to reschedule to that time.  Even a different week.

Yeah agree regarding the black out of the back ground, quite often u open this screen up and want yo see the background to advise of another time / day slot. Black out just adds another step to the process :)
