You can now relate patients!

Well you can't exactly relate patients, that would be impressive.  You can however now specify their relationships in Cliniko.

Why is this so awesome you might ask? Well on it's own it's not.  But we need this for something we are working on that is awesome We don't normally talk about upcoming features, but hey I'm new, so here goes ;)

This feature lays the ground work for an upcoming feature, Family Payments!

Relating patients is simple, when editing a patient, simply click on "Add relationship", see below:

And when viewing a patient it will look like this:

Enjoy!

UPDATE

We made a slight tweak to the display of patient relationships!  We are now showing the patient's name instead of "their":

My granddaughter has her first visit with us this afternoon and I noticed the related patients area, I thought there would be an email notifying us soon. Great idea!!!

Fantastic news!!  I just spotted this today and will have great... well, satisfaction rather than 'fun' connecting our patients' families together.

If you could also add a 'relationship' with a contact marked as a 3rd party payer to allocate a single payment from an insurance company to multiple patients that would be just Awesome!

WOOHOO!! How exciting! I'm pleased that you are working towards the payments going across the relatives!

    Well done!

Can we add "spouse" to the relationships category?

@Ken we have just added "Spouse" as a relationship type!

Any update on when the 'family payments' feature might be being rolled out (weeks? months?) as this would save me a lot of time - especially if you could relate third party payers (from contacts) to patients to be able to assign payments from insurance companies more easily.

@Patricia Still coming. We need to change the way we do a few things. I don't have an exact time frame yet but the developer still has it as an active project.

I Love this Function .  It makes it so much easier when the patients come at the same time .

    1) Any update on when the "Family Patients" will be rolling out?

    2) would it also be possible to have a relationship added as "pays for", or a text field for more information if you select 'other' as the relationship type?

This is a great function and I can see how this will be of benefit in the future for roll out of other exciting features.  We have noticed a small bug that is sometimes confusing with the same family members.

If we are searching for say Teddy Bear and input "Teddy" into the new appointment search function, if Teddy has a child or a related family member who is Cuddly Bear, because the names are listed in alphabetical order based on relationship, Not search keyword order, Cuddly will always tend to show first, which if we are not attentive the wrong person can be selected/entered for the appointment.

Hi Patricia! We don't have an update yet as to a date for when the full functionality of the related/family patients will be rolling out, but we'll most certainly keep everyone apprised! Quick question for you -- when you talking about a related person that "pays for," in what scenarios would this apply? I'm guessing not someone who's directly related, or someone who might not be an actual patient ... but who's in charge of paying the bills for the patient?

Edward, thanks for pointing this out! When you say "appointment search function," can you elaborate? I'm just trying to visualize this and having a bit of a hard time in doing so -- any additional information would help! Thanks so much!

    Hi Emily,

I cannot seem to re-create it with my family, however attached is an image minus personal details of what is often happening with some families.  It looks like it might even be if the parent's name is entered and the children's names alphabetically come before the parent then the children's names are shown before the parent.  Shuch as in this case  Helen was the person we are searching for, but Daniel comes first.

    Thank you.
