The calendar is now live and instant

We have just made a significant change to the appointments page.  Now when anyone makes a change to the calendar your screen will be updated without needing to refresh.  This works for new appointments, change or cancelled appointments... it even will show you if an invoice has been raised or paid and if the patient has arrived.   We have really used some advanced technology for this to make sure there is no delay, we don't do 60 second polling or anything like that, it's really instant.

We also added one more nice thing while we were at it... now when you click the "patient arrived" button on the appointment, the practitioner that they are seeing will hear a bell from their computer.  There will also be a message that appears briefly on their screen to let them know who arrived.  They don't even need to be on the calendar for this to work, as long as they are logged into Cliniko they will hear it.

We hope this makes Cliniko even better for you.

That's brilliant, makes it so much more functional for using the calendar in real time in the appointment rooms. Great work Joel!!

Mate - that works a CHARM. Now I don't get "accidental" double bookings... :-)

    Hi Joel,

One of my browsers doesn't update automatically and I still need to hit refresh. Is it a browser issue (I'm running IE9) or an issue at your end? Do I need to change any settings within my browser to make it work?

    Hi Ian,

We have tested on IE9 specifically so that shouldn't be the issue.  Does that computer have any different anti-virus software or browser toolbars?

Not that I'm aware of, only a google toolbar in the browser and we run microsoft security essentials. Nothing else that I know of.

no probs  - its a strange one, not sure if it really relates to the problem but when I subsequently refreshed IE9 later it showed up as expected, I then went back to another browser and deleted the test appointment and it did indeed then auto disappear from IE9 and then subsequent creations then began auto-magically working... sort of intermittent depending if its a create or delete operation maybe ?
