We just released a small update to how tax is recorded with expenses. Previously you could enter the total amount of the expense and the tax rate if applicable. Cliniko would then see if there was a tax and calculate the included tax. The problem with that approach is that your expense might contain some taxable items and some tax exempt items. This would mean the tax amount isn't calculable.
We now are showing the tax amount when adding or editing purchases. This means you can override the calculated amount if needed and adjust it to an accurate number if your expense falls into this category.
It's a small change but should make your bookkeepers happier!
